Paul Coldwell - Precious Objects
Signed set of 20 postcards produced in conjunction with a former exhibition at the Freud Museum Vienna.
As part of the exhibition Setting Memory held at the Freud Museum in Vienna, the artist Paul Coldwell invited local pupils to send a photograph of their most precious object. These photographs were combined with photos of objects from Sigmund Freud's desk to make a series of 20 postcards. Freud's objects, including figurines and antiquities, were amongst the many he managed to transport when he emigrated to London in 1938 and are now housed and on display in the Freud Museum London.
On the 28th June 2016, to commemorate Sigmund Freud's emigration from Vienna to London, 100 of these postcards were attached to balloons and released in Sigmund Freud Park, close to his former home (now the Freud Museum) at Berggasse 19.
Each postcard carried a message asking that, if found, the postcard be sent to the Freud Museum at 20 Maresfield Gardens, London.
As of the 23rd September, only 2 postcards have survived and were returned.
